" I love my guitar man ! "
Old Dad Sez: I'm often asked: What do you put in your guitars that make them special?
Actually it's also what we don't put on them.
If you ever dropped a factory made guitar from one of the large companies, you will notice the finish cracks, like an egg. Chips are usually deep and sharp. It's because the finish is built up from many coats, of what is in most cases catalyzed urethane. This is a very thick, tone killing material that dampens most of the natural resonance in the guitar body's tonewood.
On the other hand, we finish our guitars with a thin build hand-rubbed lite finish and hard finishing wax. Any color is a stain rubbed into the bare wood before the final finish is applied. Chips seldom show, because the color is not just "on top." This makes an easy to maintain finish that lets the beauty of the wood shine through & doesn't kill your tone.
